Many times it was mentioned in the Bible that an angel was there to announce good tidings, protect the prophets and martyrs, help the apostles. To this day, many angel stories are shared and even with our own personal lives, there was a close encounter with an angel protecting and guiding us.
I have lots of experiences which might have put me in grave danger, but afterwards, when I think about it, I believe that an angel was brought by my side to protect me. When I was in Grade VI, during lunch break, I go home to have my lunch. Going back to school, instead of riding a jeepney, I decided to walk to school through a short cut. The short cut was a corn field. Because the harvest time has just ended, the field was clear. I was in the middle off the field when a man from nowhere approached me and asked me for direction on how to go to an adjacent town. He kept on talking to me and maybe because of innocence, I just kept on answering his questions. Consequently, he started to advance on me, and that was when my young being got the sense that I was in danger. I froze. Suddenly, an old lady appeared and talked to the man in Ilocano, a Philippine dialect spoken in Baguio where I was studying then. Although I never understood the meaning of the words, I felt relieved that I was out of danger. Then the old lady told me to go on my way to school and said that she will look at me until I reach the gate of the school and unless she is sure I am safe inside the school premises, she will not leave the field yet. I kept looking back at her and she was there alright until I reached the gate and when I look at my back, I saw no trace of her anymore. I can't believe she can just walk away from her spot that fast considering she was already stooped of old age and looks rather weak.
That incident, among many others I had made me believe that indeed, an angel is sent to us especially at times when we most need them.
